Services

The clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment which enables us to provide the best possible care. The following information describes some of the services provided.

Emergency Examinations

An initial physical examination will be conducted by the doctor to evaluate your pet's condition. The doctor will then advise you of available treatment options.

Although we will always try to let you stay with your pet during the exam, critical cases may be taken straight to the back for immediate attention. In this event the doctor will consult with you as soon as they have examined your pet.

Anesthesia & Sedation

When necessary, a local or general anesthetic or a sedative permits the veterinarians and their assistants to perform procedures that might otherwise be painful or distressing to your pet.

Surgery

A wide range of surgical procedures are performed at the emergency clinic. Surgery will be performed only when a delay could be detrimental to your pet.

Laboratory

Lab test aid in the diagnosis and management of your pet's condition. Complete blood counts (CBC), serum chemistries and urine analyses are some to the test that may be utilized.

Radiology

Radiographs (x-rays) are an important diagnostic tool in an emergency practice. Some uses include the detection of broken bones or physical abnormalities due to disease or trauma. X-rays will be sent with you to be given to your regular veterinarian.

Fluid & Transfusion Therapy

Fluid therapy is the administration of fluids or blood products for the treatment of blood loss, shock, or dehydration. Many types of fluids and blood products for specific conditions are available and the choice of the appropriate therapy will be made by the attending veterinarian.

Medications

A large selection of medications may be used to further aid in the treatment of your pet. Generally these are given in the form of injections. Occasionally medication will be dispensed for owners to administer at home.

Bandaging & Splinting

Wounds or fractures may require bandaging or splinting. Often these are temporary and intended to stabilize and protect the injuries from further harm. The clinic does not engage in the final repair of fractures. You regular veterinarian will provide continued treatment.

Hospital Care & Intensive Care

When necessary your pet will be hospitalized. All hospitalized patients are monitored by qualified staff throughout their stay. An hourly fee will be charged for this service. In some cases, your pet's condition may require intensive care monitoring. This may include oxygen therapy, cardiac monitoring or other specialized intensive care. There is an additional hourly charge for this service.
